On September 10-13, 2019 researchers from Lithuanian institute of agrarian economics Department of rural development dr. Živilė Gedminaitė-Raudonė and dr. Rita Vilke attended the prestigious global CSR conference „18th international conference on corporte social responsibility (CSR) and 9th Organizational Governance Conference“, hosted by IPCA university (in portugal - Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave), based in Barcelos city, Portugal.
At the conference, CSR debates took place in a global context, raised by delegates from 28 countries around the world, covering all continents. Over the course of the conference, over 100 papers were delivered in 6 sections, a symposium was held on topic "Can plastic be socially responsible?", new book presentations and thematic lectures-seminars were organized. The news of the prestigious event in Portugal was dragged down by Portuguese radio and television channels and spread widely on social networks around the world.
During the conference LAEI representatives gave two presentations, participated in the symposium and presented Lithuania's experience in the field of successfully implemented bottle deposit system “It is worth returning” (liet. „Grąžinti verta“). The visit of the LAEI scientists to the conference in Portugal was funded by the Lithuanian Research Council in the framework of a competition for the support of research trips.
In the coming year 2020, this global prestigious conference will visit Lithuania, and the Lithuanian Institute of Agrarian Economics will be hosting the conference. LAEI will invite guests to discuss the transformations experienced by social responsibility in the knowledge age.
