The territorial issue is one of the key aspects of EU structural policy, which emphasizes the need for a strategic planning process to take advantage of the location, physical, human and social capital and natural resources. It is also increasingly recognized the need to promote cooperation of different levels of government, organizations and people, as well as dialogue and partnership between local actors, directly linked to the enlargement process.
The market changes of agricultural and food products are analyzed in the publication „Market Research“ No 2 (50). Grain and grain products, vegetable, fruit and berries, poultry, eggs price tendencies, changes in thepotato, milk, meat and their products markets are analyzed. The Lithuanian data is compared with appropriate data of the other EU member states, short - term prognoses are presented.
Profitable agricultural activity provides a stable self-sufficiency with agricultural and food products. Positive structural production changes have been reached in the Lithuanian agrarian sector while implementing EU common agricultural policy measures. However, due to both external and internal factors influence differences, profitability of separate agricultural branches and products vary a lot and may have a negative impact on the rational agricultural production changes.
„Application of Perpetual Inventory Method (PIM) to Lithuania fishery sector capital valuation study“ is prepared according to the implemented project „Evaluation of the capital value, investments and capital costs in the fisheries sector” according to multiannual Community programme for the collection, management and use of data in the fisheries sector for the period 2009-2010 in Lithuania.
There is a large amount of abandoned land in Lithuania. This land is used neither as economic nor as agro environmental resource. This affects the country's agricultural development, hinders land resource management, undermine the country's image. Given the urgency of the problem the Government of Lithuania include this question into the Government Programme 2008-2012. Therefore, the scientific approach of the problem of abandoned land becomes more important.
Over the past twenty years the tendency of establishing cross-border trading and economic associations might be identified. The establishment of customs union between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan (the RBK Customs Union) in 2010 is one of the most relevant regional economic alliances for Lithuania. The union of these countries will have a significant impact on the Lithuanian agricultural and food export, as Russia is one of the most important export markets for Lithuanian products. The aim of this study is to identify theoretical assumptions of regional economic integration, to assess the impact of RBK Customs union and to provide reasonable recommendations for Lithuanian agricultural and food exporters.

By performing the research study of the impact of the bread market concentration on prices the social and economic threats of market concentration were clarified, the Lithuanian bread market was defined, the trends of retail price structure and the reasons that caused these changes were analyzed, the level of the bread market concentration was estimated and the impact of this concentration on competitiveness and prices was assessed.
During the period of economic recession agriculture and the food industry have remained as the most stable sectors of the Lithuanian economy. In these sectors nearly 8% of the whole economy’s GDP is created, nearly a tenth of the employed population has working places, the export makes 20% of the total Lithuania’s export.

Influence of the reduction of expenditure for the production on the competitiveness of grain and rape farms, impact of the changes in the global dairy market on the Lithuanian dairy market, grain, potato, poultry price tendencies, changes in the meat and vegetable sectors are analyzed. The Lithuanian data is compared with appropriate data of the other EU member states, short - term prognoses are presented.
From the beginning of the last decade demographic situation in Lithuania has been changing substantially. Degradation of demographic processes as well as negative impact on labor resources are generally determined by migration processes, especially those of young people. Negative implications of such tendencies are already significant to demographic processes and the quality of labor sources, and in the future these tendencies may become even more vigorous. The processes that are being discussed endanger the succession of farming traditions, the creation of public goods as well as the vitality of rural areas, and that makes the demand to promote quality of human resources notably relevant.
