This study presents an innovative approach to measuring the impact of EU CAP directpayments on the economic resilience of agriculture at a sectoral level. The construct of resilience isapproached from the perspective of the resilience of the main functions of the sector. The overalllevel of direct payments impact on sectoral economic resilience is seen as a weighted sum of thepayments’ impact on the resilience of the main economic functions of the sector.

This paper explores the issue of food waste in the Lithuanian retail sector. A questionnaire survey was designed in order to collect the relevant data from both the largest retail chains with stores around the country and companies with small-scale stores in rural areas. The present case is interesting as the literature on Central and Eastern European countries is scarce in the sense of the quantification of food waste.

This paper applies the Bennet total factor productivity (TFP) indicator and the economic surplus methodology to identify the stakeholders who generate or consume the gains from the productivity growth. The case of Lithuania is considered. The period covered is 2001-2020. The annual TFP growth of 2.3% is observed. The results confirm price advantages for consumers, whereas the price disadvantages were faced by the suppliers of the intermediate inputs to Lithuanian agricultural sector.

This article proposes a decomposition approach for the agricultural labour productivity change that takes into account the landto- labour ratio, intermediate consumption intensity and intermediate consumption productivity. The case of the three Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) is considered which is interesting in the light of the European Union (E.U.) expansion and the structural change taking place in those countries.

Purpose - The proposed DHHFLOWLAD is used to design a recommendation system, which aims to providethe most appropriate treatment to the patient under a double hierarchy hesitant fuzzy linguistic environment. Design/methodology/approach - Based on the ordered weighted distance measure and logarithmicaggregation, we first propose a double hierarchy hesitant fuzzy linguistic ordered weighted logarithmicaveraging distance (DHHFLOWLAD) measure in this paper.

The European transition to green economy is based on long-term strategies. The Europe 2020 Strategy was launched in 2010 in order to promote smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth in the region. Later, the ambitions regarding this strategy were followed by the Green Deal and Sustainable Development Goals. Now, the effort of countries towards the green economy is even more relevant than ever because of the context of today’s global energy crisis and economic uncertainty due to many challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic or Russia invasion of Ukraine. This paper seeks to assess the countries’ achievements in seeking to achieve climate change and energy targets of the Europe 2020 Strategy by applying the innovative multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) technique.

Capacity utilization (CU) measures may show the potential for production growth under improved availability of the (variable and fixed) inputs. However, the environmental constraints should be considered when taking the production decisions. These questions are important in the context of the agricultural sector that needs to ensure food security and sustainability. This paper proposes a novel approach that integrates weak disposability technology with observation-specific abatement factors with input- and output-orientated capacity utilization measures in the short and long run.

The subject of this article is an analysis of current state and employment perspectives in the hotel industry of Croatia and Montenegro. This paper aims to investigate the role of the hotel industry in direct and indirect em-ployment. To correctly assess the importance of the hotel industry in em-ployment, the paper analyses the factors upon which hotel industry em-ployment is dependent and develops an econometric model to estimate the number of hotel industry employees and the capacity of the hotel industry to create the total number of jobs.

Throughout three decades of intensive economic development, the Chinese agricultural sector made significant progress. Animal husbandry, which accounts for about a quarter of total agricultural output, has also maintained fast growth during this period. China has turned into the biggest carbon emitter in the world since 2006. As an important part of agriculture, husbandry also contributes much to carbon emissions, even though was often ignored in the earlier research.

Interval-valued functional clustering is a novel approach for functional data analysis where each observation is represented by an interval. Existing interval-valued functional clustering methods typically rely on the interval-valued functional Hausdorff distance, which considers the upper and lower bounds of interval-valued functions but ignores the distribution of the original interval-valued data. This study proposes an interval-valued functional clustering method based on the Wasserstein distance to address this shortcoming.
